Lady Antebellum was the big winner Sunday night at the Academy of Country Music Awards, with the pop/country trio taking home five awards, including vocal group of the year.
But Carrie Underwood – as she so often does – stole the spotlight. Underwood became just the second woman to twice win the ACMA’s Entertainer of the Year Award, which is voted on by the fans. Earlier in the evening she was recognized with a special award for having won the ACM “triple crown” – entertainer of the year, top female vocalist and top newcomer.

Was it the promise of TV in 3D, the devotion to Beyonce or Taylor Swift, or the certainty of seeing some Lady Gaga outrageousness?
Whatever the reasons, ratings for Sunday night's Grammy Awards were up 35 percent over last year, according to Nielsen's fast overnight numbers.
The Grammys scored an audience of about 26.6 million for CBS, which would make it the highest number of viewers since 2004. The 3.5-hour show had a 9.8 rating and a 24 share among viewers 18-49.

Forget your 3D glasses last night? Millions of Grammy viewers did too.
Target distributed about 14 million 3D glasses in advance of the Michael Jackson tribute at the Grammys, but that still meant close to half the viewership was left lenseless for the 3D event, the first ever for a TV awards show.
Those viewers were still treated to the vocals of Carrie Underwood, Jennifer Hudson, Smokey Robinson, Usher and Celine Dion, but were certainly distracted – and more than likely, very surprised – by the fuzzy, strangely-colored video accompanying the song.

It was Beyonce's night at Sunday's 52nd Annual Grammy Awards, as the hard-working diva took home a record six statues, the most ever by a female artist in one night.
Beyonce won four Grammy's before the night even started, and added two more for song of the year -- "Single Ladies (Put a Ring on It)" -- and female vocalist of the year.

Last night marked the 43rd Annual CMA awards, and the show's producers decided to go with a tried and true recipe for success when they chose this year's hosts: last year's hosting duo, Brad Paisley and Carrie Underwood. 19-year-old sensation Taylor Swift last night became the youngest person ever to win the Country Music Association's entertainer of the year award. Swift, propelled by the success of her second studio album, "Fearless," is the first solo female artist in 10 years to be so honored.
