FIrst lady Michelle Obama's white, one-shouldered inaugural gown will soon be on display at the Smithsonian.

Mrs. Obama has decided to donate the ethereal chiffon Jason Wu design to the exhibit of first ladies' attire, which is on permanent display at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of American History. It will be on view beginning March 10, along with the Jimmy Choo peep toe shoes and Loree Rodkin custom jewelry the first lady wore that night.

The gown will be part of a new gallery at the exhibit called “A First Lady’s Debut,” which will include 11 gowns worn by first ladies, including Mamie Eisenhower, Hillary Clinton and Laura Bush. The entire first ladies' gallery -- always one of the museum's most popular displays -- will now feature more than 24 dresses or gowns and more than 100 other items including portraits, White House china, personal possessions and more.

Both Michelle Obama and Wu, the designer, will be on hand for the presentation of the gown to the Smithsonian on Tuesday.
