The award season has officially wound down and looking back, quite a few leading ladies chose Marchesa as their designer of choice for many of the seaon's red carpet events.

Created in 2004 by British born designers Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig, the New York based collection is named for the eccentric European style icon, Marchesa Luisa Casati.

Inspired by vintage style and Asian influences, the designers describe their collection as a fusion of "high fashion" and an "eclectic aesthetic."

It was easy to see these graceful elements combine at this past weekend's Oscar awards, where not one, but three nominees chose gowns from Marchesa collection for the big night.

In what unarguably became one of the biggest nights of her life, best actress winner Sandra Bullock chose an elegant metallic gown with an intricately beaded bodice from the Fall/Winter 2010 collection.

Best actress nominee Gabourey Sidibe also went with the blossoming design house, choosing a sweeping blue off-the-shoulder gown with sparkling silver embellishments.

Marchesa also appears to be a favorite of best supporting actress nominee Vera Farmiga, who wore the label three times in the last two weeks alone. Oscar night was no exception, with Farmiga choosing a ruffled berry hued gown for her walk down the red carpet.

Just days before, the actress was spotted at the Independent Spirit Awards in another lovely red frock from the label. And last but certainly not least, Farmiga dazzled onlookers two weeks earlier in a intricately gathered, white, Grecian-style Marchesa gown at the BAFTA's in London.

The collection also appears to be garnering some attention from younger fans as well. Thirteen-year-old Abigail Breslin chose a sweet little white dress from the line to celebrate opening night of her new Broadway show, The Miracle Worker, in which she plays the starring role of Helen Keller.

Kicking off Oscar week, the design house was honored at an Audi-sponsored bash, hosted by up-and-coming style icon Camilla Belle. The timeless beauty was breathtaking as she worked the crowd and red carpet in her befeathered white cocktail dress from the Fall/Winter 2010 collection.

The event showcased a selection of Marchesa gowns on display, and Belle posed with another white cocktail dress similar to one she wore last fall.

In February, just days before their Fall/Winter 2010 presentation, Kim Kardashian took to the runway during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in a red one-shouldered Marchesa gown as a celebrity model for Heart Truth's 2010 Red Dress Collection show.

A few days earlier leading lady Anne Hathaway silenced crowds when she stepped on to the red carpet at the world premiere of Valentine's Day in strikingly blue Marchesa minidress adorned with swirling layers of feathers.

Rounding out our look back on the season that belonged to Marchesa, no one can forget Kate Hudson's show-stealing strut down the red carpet at January's Golden Globes. The actress' natural allure and unshakeable self confidence was perfectly showcased in her structured white Marchesa gown.

However, Hudson was not the only starlet to slip into a Marchesa look that night. Best supporting actress nominee Anna Kendrick also celebrated her first nomination in a cream and gold confection from the collection.

No one can deny that this is the season Marchesa came into their own, and we can't wait to see what comes next from the renowned fashion house.
