If you thought you imagined last night’s blip of a commercial featuring late night rivals David Letterman and Jay Leno, paired with the queen of media, Oprah Winfrey, your eyes weren’t deceiving you.

According to Rob Burnett, executive producer of the Late Show with David Letterman, filming the 15-second spot took less than half an hour, and required a little top-secret finagling.

“Security was a big priority for us," Burnett told the Associated Press. "We really wanted to keep this under wraps. There were a lot of internal logistical conversations about how to even get Jay and Oprah into our building secretly."

The commercial was apparently Letterman’s idea, explains Burnett. “We said, 'This is too funny to pass up.'”

Both Oprah and Leno were contacted about two weeks ago and after both agreed to participate, the ad was filmed last Tuesday at Ed Sullivan Theater in New York.

On the mood in the theater during the brief shoot, Burnett says, “It was quick, it was easy. The attitude was professional and cordial. Dave and Jay were fine with each other."
