Known more for her tumultuous personal life than her music for the last few years, Amy Winehouse is returning to the public eye in a new arena: fashion.
WWD reports that the British songstress has teamed with classic British sportswear label Fred Perry to create a line scheduled to debut next fall.
Fred Perry marketing director Richard Martin told the magazine, "Amy has been wearing Fred Perry for years, so we were aware she was a genuine fan of the brand."
A true fan of the label, Winehouse has been snapped by many a paparazzo wearing classic Fred Perry polos with her uniform of skinny pants and ballet flats.
Martin also referenced Winehouse's trademark retro-inspired style as an asset to the collaboration, saying “Amy has a unique sense of style that reflects the brand’s own historical reference points.”
The line, said to consist of 17 pieces including a twinset, gingham shirts, a "Heritage jacket", slim pencil skirts, capri pants, a minidress, and Fred Perry’s signature polo shirts, will feature not only Winehouse's notable (and at times infamous) style, but also two of her favorite colors: pink and black.
Of the collaboration Martin says, “We had three major design meetings where she was closely involved in product style selection and the application of fabric, color and styling details. ...The range clearly has Amy’s handwriting.”
The collection will be sold in Fred Perry Authentic boutiques worldwide and in select retailer with prices ranging from about $32 to $150.
