For some leading ladies, one gorgeous gown just isn't enough for the biggest fashion night of the year. Whether it was for dramatic effect or they simply needed some room to breath, these lovely stars made Oscar night fashion twice as nice.

Elizabeth Banks began the evening in a beautiful gray mermaid-shaped gown by Versace, telling cameras she had literally been sewn into the fitted frock since earlier that morning. Giving herself a little breathing room for the after parties, Banks changed into this glamorous black peek-a-boo cocktail dress, also by Atelier Versace.

Zoe Saldana went for coordinating looks when it came to her costume change. She began the evening in a Givenchy Haute Couture multi-hued lilac gown that faded to black near the train. Later in the evening the leading lady was spotted celebrating with director James Cameron at the 20th Century Fox - Fox Searchlight Pictures Oscar Party in this lighter-weight Riccardo Tisci gown which faded from white to red.

Trading one metallic gown for another, Cameron Diaz hit the Vanity Fair Oscar Party in this fitted Victoria Beckham Collection dress. Earlier in the evening she stole the show wearing a gilded Oscar de la Renta ball gown to the awards.

Diane Kruger traded her ruffly white Chanel Haute Couture gown for this shear red Calvin Klein sheath. She also traded in her date, switching from director Quentin Tarantino for boyfriend Joshua Jackson.

Anna Kendrick showed some major designer loyalty wearing not one but two gowns from Elie Saab on Oscar night. She began the evening in a sweeping palest of pink gown, and later changed into a short and flirty, straight-from-the-runway cocktail dress.

Amanda Seyfried celebrated Oscar night by wearing dresses created by two of Italy's biggest designers. She presented the award for best song in a pale mint green ball gown by Oscar de la Renta. While walking the red carpet the actress told TV Guide, "I'm really lucky to be wearing this dress."

And she only got luckier! After her presenting duties were finished she slipped into this slinky minidress from Valentino, in a slightly darker shade of green.

Known for always looking her best, Jennifer Lopez exchanged her voluminous Armani Privee ball gown for this feathered Gucci frock before hitting the after parties with husband Mark Anthony.

Then there are of course those practical-mined stars who didn't need to change, but partied-on in the same look all night.

If you are thinking Kristen Stewart looked a little shorter arriving for the Vanity Fair Oscar Party than she did arriving to the Kodak Theatre, you are correct. The actress hid her bare feet under her gorgeous Monique Lhuillier gown as she posed for pictures outside the Sunset Tower Hotel.

Gabourey Sidibe endured a long night of partying, but didn't need two dresses to have a great time. The best actress nominee ran into Today Show hosts Matt Lauer and Meredith Viera as she dragged herself into the lobby of her hotel around 5 a.m., still clad in her lovely blue Marchesa gown.
