Not even the media firestorm that is Megan Fox could save comic book adaptation Jonah Hex at the box office this weekend.
Going up against heavy hitters Disney Pixar's Toy Story 3 and the cult classic re-make The Karate Kid, the film grossed a mere $5 million and landed in the number 8 spot on its debut weekend.
Based on the comic book series of the same name, the film follows badly scarred hero Jonah Hex (Josh Brolin) as he faces-off against villain Quentin Turnbull (John Malkovich) during the days of the Wild Wild West. A corset-adorned Megan Fox plays Hex's love interest, ex-prostitute Lilah.
Despite lukewarm buzz about "the beginning of a Western revival," Hex's debut weekend appears to have been cursed.
However, despite it's lack of box office success, Fox enjoyed the western film-making process, telling Fox 411, "The best part was the guns because I’ve never done that before so that was a completely new challenge and there was really not a worst part. If I had to pick I guess I would say the corset, but I personally enjoyed that – it’s just hard to kick ass when you’re laced up in something like that.”
